Install took maybe 30 seconds once the light bar itself was installed. Super simple and works great! Just make sure you get the correct light bar to use with it. This won't work with the RC bars that have the DRL optionThe Rough Country remote works great on my Rough Country 40" Black Series light bar on my 2018 Grand Cherokee Overland High Altitude! When using the remote the light bar reacts quick when you push the button from well outside the vehicle. This remote appears to work with just the Rough Country light bar wiring harness. I tried to use this with my Alpena branded wiring harness for my aftermarket 6" side mount light bars and even though the in-line connectors fit perfect the remote will not control my other light bars. Probably proprietary to the RC branded light bars. Otherwise I'm pleased with the performance of the RC remote on my 40" light bar. Highly recommend.To do my due diligence, I called Rough Country prior to purchasing the remotes to ensure they would work with my light bar. Customer service said as long as my light bar was not a drl the remotes are universal and should work. I ordered 2. Installed my light bars, tested them with a rocker switch to make sure they worked. They did. Connected the remote transponder, nothing. No click of the relay no illumination of the light bars. Tried with and without the switch, still did not work. Called customer service, they asked if my light bars were drls, I told them they were not. They asked about the wiring and told me what color wires should match up to what color wires. They matched up to what they told me. Still didn't work. Then the customer service rep suggested I splice the wires and try different connections. I asked if I spliced the wires if I could return them? He said "just return them then". Got off phone with him and tried a few more things. Called back and spoke with someone different. I explained the problem and he took my name and # and he would talk to the head tech person and call me back. Never got a call back. Returned both remotes but had to pay return shipping.This wireless remote will only work with rough country lights as far as I knowHad an issue with my order RC made it right.This product may be great with RC lights. But it seems to be incompatible with Nilight leds. I plugged it in and nothing happens. Made sure the switch was on but nothing.Did not come with any directions on hook up, although you should be able to figure it out. No way to test prior to though.Bought from RC website. Shipping was fast and free. Great option to install a light bar without running a switch into the cab. I used it with a Nilight light bar and wiring harness. It was not exactly plug and play as I had to switch the white and blue wires to get it to work. Seems to work great so far. The remote fob isn't exactly top quality as it's made out of cheap plastic and seems flimsy but I guess it does the job.
