This unit was easy to program with my gate remote to my older mighty mule gate by following the instructions. They were very clear and easy to understand. The only thing I didn’t realize is that after you’ve entered the code the gate will be responsive to any number at all for the next 15- 30 seconds. I didn’t time it exactly. But it surprised me because I pushed one digit after the gate opened and it started closing again. You have to wait for the three beeps to clear the code. Then the gate will operate normally with any programmed code. The key pad is simple enough to install, however when it came to time have it "learn" our remotes, it would not learn it. We tried over and over for an hour. I was ready to return it, and get another when I read a review from Geanie. Explaining that I can't use the remote to sync the key pad, I need to use the main panel. I tried that, and VOILÁ, it worked perfectly. Here they are:I attempted to install the keypad today. The instructions for the new keypad are the exact same ones located on the mighty mule website. The problem is that the instructions are not compatible with the newest model gate openers (MM271/371/571, etc.), this is mentioned in many of the most recent reviews for the keypad. Some of the reviewers mentioned they contacted tech support and got instructions but then didn't include the instructions in the review. So here they are:***Change the master code, you can follow the instructions for the keypad to do this (not actually required to program the keypad to the gate opener but you might as well do it now)***1. On the control board press the orange button labeled S3, it is the middle one, on my control board the return symbol is above it. The control board will beep.2. Then using the keypad enter the master code and hold the last digit until the control board beeps. Then release the last digit.3. Before attempting to use the keypad, wait until the keypad beeps three times, this can take up to 40 seconds. Once the keypad beeps three times, test the keypad by entering the master code, the gate should open.THANK YOU GEANIE!!Works as expectedEasy set up. Relplaced old keypad. Works greatthe 0 sticks and and if you use it in a code....you ain't getting in. I have one on the exit side and it works 100%, so it must just be the one unit. I still have 9 other numbers to use so this in no big thing, now to just need to keep them from hitting it, I mean I painted the pole yellow, they got to be able to see it.Works well after programming which is pretty straight forward. This is like the fobs I bought, the instructions are for the older models and so after HAVING to call TechSupport it now works like it should. We have had it working now for about a week and so far so good. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the incorrect instructions. This is working flawlessly. I had difficulty changing the code to my number. It took several tries and finally it took the code. The box itself is of poor quality I'm sure will not stand up to the elements. Range is also very poor. I am a Canadian and I prefer to buy things made here to support our economy, and I find the products are very well made. We unfortunately do not have a Canadian branded gate opener so I opted for this "proudly made in America" product which I thought the workmanship would be on par but these mighty mule openers are no good. Should be sold at a much lower price point and at a store like princess auto that sells majority off shore items which mighty mule is on par with. The unit wouldn't program in my phone number that I wanted to use for security. A year after installing my gate openers I had issues ( came with 18 mo. warranty) & while the techs were excellent you may as well kiss your warranty goodbye if you're from Canada. They want you to send the opener & all the wire that is attached to it, it is installed under the driveway, back to Texas & then THEY will decide if it's warrantied! I'm not leaving my driveway uprooted for that length of time. I will by local next time as from customer reviews, they are not very good. This is the second keypad I purchased to WIRE to my Apollo 835 Control Board which uses a Liftmaster 312HM Receiver (this keypad will NOT work wirelessly with this Receiver). It works perfectly (early days) although you must be sure to follow directions for connection---i.e., put the batteries in LAST after wired and powered from board. My only somewhat minor complaint is the location of the terminal pin connector---you must have sufficient wire length to be able to manage the connection to the keypad and still be able to install keypad into holder. This can prove challenging! The shipper was great! Arrived sooner than expected and packaged with care.Love this keypad, and the fact that it is wireless. Programmable with different codes, which is nice if you ever want to delete someone's access. Only improvement would be a cover over the numbers, as they are exposed to the elements and I predict they will fade over time, but so far, excellent product! We bought the keypad post to mount it at car height so that you dont even have to get out of your vehicle to use it.All this "Mighty Mule" stuff is sturdy and works well. I have fitted two double gate openers now and both are working perfectly after a few years in harsh winter conditions. Installation instructions are clear, remotes hold memory without loss. I recommend this brand.
